Ambidentate Ligand:
Such ligands have two or more donor atoms but only one donor atom is attached to the metal during complex formation.
For example, NO2 group has two donor atoms N and O. Only one donor atom is linked to metal as MONO or
MNO2
Also, SCN has two donor atoms S and N but only one can be linked to the metal such as MSCN or MNCS.
Similarly, CN has two donor atoms C and N but only one can be linked to the metal such as
MCN or MNC
