Solution

Asexual reproduction:

  1. The mode of reproduction by which a single parent is able to produce offspring is known as asexual reproduction.
  2. The offspring formed by a single parent is genetically and morphologically identical to the parent.
  3. Asexual reproduction is common in single-celled organisms, plants, and some animals with simple body organizations.

Budding:

  1. Budding is a type of asexual reproduction that commonly occurs in multicellular and unicellular organisms.
  2. In budding, offspring is a clone of the parent.
  3. In budding, the parent divides into two cells of the same size, and the new cell grows from an old cell.
  4. The new cell formed is smaller than the old cell that grows into a larger mother cell called a bud.
  5. Thus bud cleaves off from the parent body and develops into new offspring.

Example of budding is Hydra:

  1. Hydra is a sponge that reproduces asexually by the formation of bud.
  2. The bud grows out into larger buds and breaks the parent body to become a new individual.
  3. The new individual formed is a clone of the parent.
