Open in App
Solution

Spores:

  1. The single-celled (haploid) reproductive structures formed under unfavorable conditions.
  2. The spores are highly resistant to high temperature, pH, and salt concentration.
  3. Spores can be endospores( spores inside the vegetative cells ) and exospores.
  4. Endospores are generally produced by bacteria cells while exogenous spores are produced by members of kingdom fungi as sexual and asexual spores.

Exogenous spores:

  1. The spores formed outside the vegetative cells.
  2. These spores are produced by the members of the kingdom Fungi such as Aspergillus, Agaricus, and Ustilago

Example of exogenous spores: Basidiospores:

  1. In fungi, Ustilago and Agaricus the spore-producing structure is called sporangium which produces basidiospores.
  2. These spores are sexual spores that are produced exogenously on the basidia which are arranged in the fruiting bodies (basidiocarp).
