Solution

Insulator : 2 Marks
Conductor : 1 Mark

Insulator is another word for poor conductors. Conductors are substances which transmit heat from hotter end to cooler end without any actual movement from the particles. The substances which are unable to transmit heat in this fashion are called Insulators.

Metals are good conductors of heat since the atoms are very close to each other and heat is transferred by vibrations.
