What is an ion, anion and cation? Give example for each.

1. An ion is a charged particle and can be negatively or positively charged. Eg: $C{a}^{2+},O{H}^{-}$
2. A cation is an atom or a molecule which is positively charged, i.e. has more number of protons than electrons. Eg: $N{a}^{+}$
3. An anion is an atom or a molecule which is negatively charged, i.e. has more number of electrons than protons. Eg: $C{l}^{-}$
