Question

What is an outcome of gene regulation?

Open in App
Solution

Gene Regulation:

  1. Gene regulation is the complex process of controlling or regulating gene expression.
  2. Gene regulation can take place in different stages like transcription, pre mRNA splicing, translation, post-translational modification, or post protein changes.
  3. Gene expression is controlled by changing the structure of genetic material.
  4. There are 3 types mainly in gene regulation, positive regulation where gene expression is turned on, negative regulation where gene expression is turned off, and co-regulation which is turning multiple genes on or off together.
  5. Gene regulation is necessary for making or synthesizing correct proteins where they are required. So it maintains the stability of the body.
  6. Hence, homeostasis is an outcome of gene regulation.
