What is an anaphase-promoting complex?

Solution
Anaphase-promoting complex:
It is a multi-subunit protein complex that helps in the transition of the cell cycle from metaphase to Anaphase.
APC attaches to the chromosomes aligned at the equatorial plate in metaphase which ultimately leads to the segregation of chromatids.
The functioning of the APC is determined by a special protein called MAD2 that works with another regulator called the cdc20.
