2. An ovary contains thousands of follicles.
3. Before ovulation, the egg in the follicle detaches itself.
4. The follicle swells and bursts open to eject the egg and fluid into the abdominal cavity.
5. If follicle does not burst or release its egg it leads to the formation of a cyst.
