Arbovirus :
- Arbovirus is defined as the group of RNA viruses that spread infections in humans by means of insects(arthropods).
- These viruses are responsible for causing yellow fever, equine encephalitis, dengue, West Nile virus disease, and Powassan virus disease in humans.
- The RNA viruses infect the insect (blood-sucking mosquitoes and ticks) in which the virus causes no harm to the insect, but through the bite of the infected mosquitoes, the infections spread to humans.
- The arbovirus is most commonly spread in humans by insect bites but can also transmit through blood transfusion, organ transplant, and sexual contact.
Examples of arbovirus:
California encephalitis, West Nile, etc.
