What is/are the produts formed when manganese is treated with 1% nitric acid?
H2
Mn(NO3)2
Since HNO3 is a very good oxidizing agent,no metal would release hydrogen gas as they usually do with other acids. However nitric acid reacts with Mn when diluted because the oxidizing property reduces when diluted giving hydrogen gas.
Mn(s)+2HNO3(aq)−>Mg(NO3)2(aq)+H2(g)
