The autotrophic mode of nutrition is that mode of nutrition in which an organism prepares its own food from simple inorganic materials like carbon dioxide and water present in the surroundings.
Chlorophyll or green pigment is present.
Example of autotrophic nutrition:
A green plant produces its own food by the process of photosynthesis by using non-living components of the environment that have an autotrophic mode of nutrition.
The autotrophic cyanobacteria also obtain their food through the autotrophic mode of nutrition.
