Back cross:

  1. Backcrossing is the process of crossing or mating a hybrid offspring with one of its parents.
  2. It is beneficial and employed in the domains of gardening, and animal breeding.
  3. Backcrossed hybrids are referred to as 'BC' hybrids.
  4. Animals with a bad genetic trait can be backcrossed with a species that has a beneficial trait to produce a better genetic phenotype.
  5. There are no recessive individuals when F1 is backcrossed with a dominant trait parent.
  6. When the F1 generation is backcrossed with the recessive parent, both dominant and recessive genotypes are obtained.
