Bilateral symmetry:

  1. Bilateral symmetry is defined as body symmetry where the body can be divided into two identical halves in only one plane.
  2. A basic body plan in which the left and right sides of the organism can be divided into approximate mirror images of each other along the midline.
  3. The great majority (at least 99%) of animals are bilaterally symmetric, including humans.
  4. E.g. Annelids, Arthropods, Molluscs, Chordates, etc.
