  1. Biomass fuel is the organic plant based material that is converted into fuel and can be used as an energy source.
  2. Biomass fuel plays a pivotal role in a renewable and sustainable source of energy.
  3. Organic materials which can be recycled like wood, agricultural wastes, and municipal wastes are a good source to produce biomass fuel.
  4. The biomass could be burnt directly and later could be converted into methane and ethanol biofuels.
  5. The chemical composition of biomass includes hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, certain alkali atoms, alkaline earth metals and some heavy metals.

Example: Biomass is used for the production of electricity. Due to this, biomass is capable of replacing the fossil fuels.
