Blood is a red coloured fluid connective tissue.

Blood is composed of two major elements- fluid elements (blood plasma) and cellular elements (blood cells). There are mainly three types of cellular elements in blood. These are RBC's or erythrocytes, WBCs or leukocytes, blood platelets or thrombocytes.

The function of blood :

• It is the chief transport system of the body and has an important role in the defence gains against disease.
