During the preparation of covalent compounds, when reactants are converted to product the breaking of bond occur with reactant and new bonds are formed with products.
Ex.,
N₂ + 3 H₂ ---> 2 NH₃
Here the bonds of nitrogen and hydrogen is breaking and in ammonia the new bonds are formed between nitrogen and hydrogen.
