Carbonization:
It is a process in which an organic compound is converted into carbon or carbon-containing residue by the thermal decomposition method.
It usually works in an anaerobic situation or in the presence of a lesser amount of oxygen.
Carbonization produces substances that can prove harmful and simple precautions should be taken to reduce risks.
The gas produced by carbonization has a high content of carbon monoxide which is poisonous when breathed.
Uses of carbonization:
It is used for the generation of charcoal from biomass.
It is used to produce biodiesel from ethanol and fatty acids.
