  • Sometimes, particularly in old age, eyesight becomes foggy. It is due to the eye lens becoming cloudy. When this happens, a person is said to have cataract. [1 mark]
  • It is possible to treat this defect by surgery. The opaque lens is removed and a new artificial lens is inserted. Modern technology has made this procedure much simpler and safer. [1 mark]
  • It develops at old age and in diabetes person. [1 mark]
