What is cellular respiration?
breakdown of the food in the cells with the release of energy
Cellular respiration is a chemical process in which food molecules are broken down into simpler molecules within cells and energy is released. The process of breathing involves the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. Inhaled oxygen enters the lungs and reaches the alveoli. Oxygen from the alveolus passes into the blood in the capillaries. Similarly, carbon dioxide passes from the blood into the alveoli and is then exhaled. And then the blood finally transports the oxygen absorbed to all parts of the body.
