Chlorophyll is a pigment that gives plants their green color. Plants use chlorophyll along with sunlight to get their nutrients. Chlorophyll is vital for photosynthesis, which allows plants to absorb energy from light. Chlorophyll is found in the thylakoid sacs of the chloroplast. The chloroplast is a specialized part of the cell that functions as an organelle. It is not found in all types of cell. Prokaryotic cells do not have chloroplast and hence chlorophyll is not present in prokaryotes.
