Communalism is based on the idea that religion is the principle basis of social community. Communalism can take many forms in politics. It can take the form of communal violence, riots and massacre. Communalism demands the dominance of ones own religious community.
A communal mind is always in the quest of political dominance of ones own religious community for those belonging to the majority community it can become a desire to form a separate unit.
