Xylem and phloem are known as complex tissues as they are made up of more than one type of cells. The complex tissue present in xylem and phloem is vascular tissue. It is a conducting tissue. Its main function is to conduct or transport fluid and nutrients from one part to another part in plant. In xylem, vascular tissue transports water and minerals from the roots to different parts of the plant. In phloem, it transports dissolved nutrients in all directions within the plant.
