What is composition of state legislative council?

The Legislative Council is the Upper House of the State Legislature. Its members are elected indirectly and not through direct voting. One third of its members are elected by state legislative assembly. One third of its members are elected by local bodies such as municipalities, zila parishads and panchayats. One twelfth of its members are elected by teachers of Higher Secondary schools. And another one twelfth are elected by university graduates. The Governor nominates one sixth of its members. The strength of the Council cannot exceed one third of the strength of state assembly.
