Conduction is the process of transfer of heat from the hotter end to the colder end of a solid, without any actual visible movement of molecules of the solid substance.
During conduction, the molecules of a substance that come in contact with heat possess more energy.
They collide with their neighboring molecules and transfer some energy to them.
These neighboring molecules then collide with their surrounding molecules and so on.
As a result, heat flows from the hotter part to the colder part of the substance.
