Copal :

  1. The word “copal” comes from the Nahuatl word copalli which means “incense”.
  2. Copal is a type of hard resin that contains only a little amount of essential oil.
  3. Because of their hardness and the high melting point, they are used in the varnish business.
  4. The Kauri gum, kauri resin, or Kauri copal is the most valuable and important of all the Copals.
  5. They're made from the kauri pine and can be found in petrified form underground.
  6. Copal resin is used in enamel, interior work, lacquers, spirit varnishes, oilcloth, linoleum, plastics, waterproofing compounds, sizing material, printing inks, and many more applications.
