What is Copper Matte?

Copper Matte is a combination of copper sulphide and a small amount of iron sulphide. In the process of copper extraction, Matte is the stage subsequent to the final reduction process which involves converting it to crude copper.

The composition of copper matte is:

1. Copper Sulphide which makes up $80-95$%

2. $Fe-Co$ alloys, metallic copper, Galena, $Pb-Ag$, $Pb-Ni$ alloys, arsenides and $Pb-Cu$ which makes up $5-17$% of the mixture
