Copper matte

  • Copper matte is made up of a combination of copper sulfide (Cu2S) and a small amount of iron sulfide (FeS).
  • Matte is a kind of process in which element is extracted before the final reduction.
  • Matte is manufactured from copper ore that has been concentrated or recycled materials.
  • Copper, iron, and lead sulfides make up the majority of it, with minor levels of other metal sulfides present.
  • Copper matte is made up of copper sulfide (80-95 percent) and Fe – Co alloys (five to seventeen percent).
  • Metallic copper, silver, Pb – Ag alloys, and arsenide can all be found in addition to Fe – Co.
  • Finally, the copper matte is a mixture of copper sulfide and a small amount of iron sulfide recovered during the matte process.
