The human ear is divided into three parts namely- the external ear, the middle ear, and the inner ear.
The inner ear of humans has vestibular apparatus that is made up of three semi-circular canals.
The base of these canals is swollen and is known as ampulla, it also has a projecting ridge called crista ampullaris that has hair cells.
Thus, the crista ampullaris is a rotational sensory organ present in the semi-circular canal of the human inner ear that detects angular acceleration and deceleration.
