Degree of dampness:

1. The degree of ‘dampness’ of air tells us the humidity of the air. In other words, the amount of water vapours present in the air is called humidity.
2. When the amount of water vapours present in the air is small, the air appears to be ‘dry’ and when the amount of water vapour present in the air is large, the air appears to be ‘damp’.
