Cardiac cycle:

  1. Diastolic dysfunction is a cardiac condition which results due to the stiffening of the ventricles of the heart.
  2. Chronic hypertension results in diastolic dysfunction.
  3. During systolic heart failure, left ventricular filling pressure increases.
  4. Without the stroke volume reserve, increased heart rate during exercise is the primary method used to increase cardiac output.
  5. This is known as increased LV filling pressure.
