Sea bed with lot of shells of diatoms is called diatamaceous earth.Diatoms have cells walls made of silica and cellulose.After the death, the cell walls do not get decomposed.Because of that the where diatoms are more on the surface of the sea,sea bed is rich in their cell walls.Such sea bed is called diatomaceous earth.
