What is difference between additions reactions and synthesis reaction?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,
There is no basic difference between addition reaction and synthesis reactions. Both involve combination of two or more atoms, molecules or functional groups to make a bigger molecule. They are also termed as direct combination reaction. They leads to absorption or evolution of heat.
The term synthesis reaction is often termed for reactions which involves more that one step whereas single step direct combination reactions are often termed as addition reaction.
