Solution

Dear Student,
CONCAVE LENS -
A concave lens is made by joining two curved surfaces in such a way that it is thinner at the centre. Its thickness gradually increases as we move towards the edge.It has the ability to diverge a beam of light rays incident on it.
• A concave lens is thinner at middle and thicker at edge.
• A concave lens can form virtual and erect image.
• It is a diverging lens.
• Used in binoculars and telescopes.

CONVEX LENS-
A convex lens is made by joining two spherical surfaces in such a way that it is thicker at the centre. Its thickness gradually reduces as we move towards the edge.It has the ability to converge the light rays to a point that are incident on it.
• Convex lens is thicker at middle and thinner at edge.
• A convex lens can form both real and virtual image.
• It is a converging lens.
• These are used in magnifying glasses.
