What Is the Difference Between Diabetes Insipidus and Mellitus?

Diabetes Mellitus:

1. It is a deficiency disorder caused due to the lack of insulin or hyposecretion of insulin.
2. There are two types of diabetes mellitus viz type 1 diabetes mellitus and type 2 diabetes mellitus.

Diabetes Insipidus:

1. It is caused by the deficiency of ADH or anti-diuretic hormone.
2. It occurs due to the insufficient reabsorption of water in the distal convoluted tubule of the kidney nephrons.
3. It is also called Drinker’s disease.
