What is difference between petroleum and petrol.?

Dear Student, Petroleum is crude oil (raw oil) which contains hundreds of different types of hydrocarbons all mixed together. It is a thick black liquid and is of little use. Petrol is one of the useful hydrocarbon ( mixture of organic compounds) obtained by refining of petroleum.It is a transparent oil and used as a fuel in automobiles. Regards
