POLESTAR-

• It appears stationary in the celestial sphere unlike other stars which seem to be moving.
• It was one of the most familiar stars for travellers in earlier times when there was not enough sources of instruments to find the directions at night.
• It appears stationary because it is situated in the north direction along the axis of rotation of the Earth.
• It can be located with the help of the constellation named Ursa Major.

SIRIUS-

• It is the brightest star in the sky.
• It is located close to the constellation named orion.
• It is also called dog star
