Question

What is different between standard electrode potential and standard reduction potential?

Open in App
Solution

Standard electrode potential is the sum of the reduction and oxidation potential of the respective electrodes measured at standard condition. Standard reduction potential is the potential difference between the cathode and its solution, in which reduction occur. This is also measured at the standard condition.
Standard electrode potential E0 = E0ox + E0red
Standard condition = 1 M solution and 25 0C
