Dispersion:

A 3-D solid object with two identical ends. It is made up of flat sides, similar bases, as well as equivalent cross-sections, which are called prisms.

  1. White light dispersion is generally described as the splitting of white light into seven component colors as it passes through such a prism.
  2. Whenever white light passes through a glass prism, it splits itself into a spectrum of colors (throughout sequence violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, as well as red), and even this phenomenon of breaking white light is known as dispersion.

Cause of dispersion:

  1. Whenever white light is passed through a prism, a spectrum of seven colors has been generated, demonstrating that white light is a combination of seven distinct colors. Prism merely serves as a channel for separating the seven colors. Refraction occurs when light strikes a glass prism.
  2. Since the wavelengths of distinct components of illumination fluctuate while the frequency remains constant, every constituent deviates by a different perspective variability throughout velocity inside this glass medium.
  3. The red color differs significantly the least and therefore constitutes the top half of the spectrum, meanwhile, the violet color deviates much more.
