DNA fingerprinting is also known as DNA profiling. It is a technique based on the individuality of DNA molecules, and is used to identify and analyze the variations in different individuals. An individual's DNA characteristics, called DNA profile is determined. This profile is different in unrelated individuals and is unique to individuals as are fingerprints.
