What is double fertilization? Write its significance.

Double fertilization is the process of fusion of one male game with the egg nucleus and another male gamete with the polar nuclei or secondary nucleus. As there is triple fusion and fertilization at the same time hence, called as double fertilization e.g., anglospermic plants.

Significance: The triploid nucleus Cendosperm nucleus developed to form an endosperm which provides nourishment to the developing improve resulting in the formation of healthy seed and plant.
