What is drought? What are the consequences of drought?

When no rainfall takes place in a place for a very long time, it rises to a situation of dry and infertile land called drought.
When a place hits with drought, there becomes an extreme scarcity of food in that particular region. This extreme scarcity of food is called famine. Because of this large population dies of hunger.
