What is dry hydrogen chloride?

Open in App
Solution

HCl can exist as a gas in the atmosphere which is actually the dry hydrogen chloride. Hydrogen chloride in presence of moisture tends to dissociate into H+ and Cl ions (Hydrochloric acid). In absence of moisture, it is a normal gas (dry hydrogen chloride).
