Solution

Germ layers:

  1. A group of cells in an embryo that interacts with each other as the embryo develops and contribute to the formation of all organs and tissues is called a germ layer.
  2. Except for sponges, all animals form two or three germ layers.
  3. The germ layers develop early in embryonic life, through the process of gastrulation.
  4. It consists of the endoderm (inner layer), the ectoderm (outer layer), and the mesoderm (middle layer).

Ectoderm - It is the outermost layer that forms nails, hair, etc.

Endoderm - It is the innermost layer that forms the stomach, colon, urinary bladder, etc.

Mesoderm - It is the middle layer between ectoderm and endoderm which forms bones, cartilage, etc.

Together, the three germ layers will give rise to every organ in the body, from skin and hair to the digestive tract.
