Question

What is elastic property?

Open in App
Solution

  1. The ability of objects to regain their original shape and size after deforming force is removed is called elastic property.
  2. If an object crosses its elastic limit then it cannot get back to its original position.
  3. Solid objects will deform when adequate loads are applied to them.
  4. Hook's law describes the behavior of elastic materials and states that for small deformations.
  5. The resulting strain is proportional to the applied stress.
  6. From Hook's law, fs=-kx
    where fs= spring force k= spring constant x= spring stretch or compression
  7. Hook's law states that applied force is equal to the product of the spring constant k and displacement x.
  8. From Hooke's law, we can also say the ratio of stress and strain is a constant or modulus of elasticity.
    Modulusofelasticity=stressstrain
