Dear Student,
An electoral roll is a list of people who are eligible to vote in a government election. It is also termed as electoral register or voters roll. The electoral roll has a lot of purposes like authenticating the applicant through his identification and entitlement to vote , to fight electoral fraud and to ensure that a person doesnot vote several times.
EPIC stands for Electoral Photo Identity Card. It is issued by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to an elector (voter) of his Assembly Constituency (A.C.) on behalf of the Election Commission of India. It is used for the purpose of identification of an elector or voter especially at the time of casting his or her vote.
A person whose name is enrolled in the Electoral Roll (Voters’ List) published by the Electoral Registration Officer is eligible to get an EPIC.
