Question

What is electrophoresis? Why is it shown by a certain type of solution ?

Open in App
Solution

Electrophoresis involves running a current through a colloidal solution containing the molecules of interest. Based on their size and charge, the molecules will travel through the dispersion medium in different directions or at different speeds, allowing them to be separated from one another. Electrophoresis can be shown by only colloids as they contain charged molecules.
