What is emulsion? How are emulsions classified? Give example?

Emulsion:
A colloidal system in which one liquid is dispersed in another liquid immiscible with it is called an emulsion.
The emulsions are classified into following two types.
(i) Emulsion of oil in water:
The disperse phase is an oil and the dispersion medium is water. For example, milk containing particles of liquid fat dispersed in water.
(ii) Emulsion of water in oil:
The disperse phase is water and the dispersion medium is an oil. For example, cod liver oil containing water particles dispersed in oil.
