The entropy of a system is the measure of the degree of randomness or disorderliness in the system. It is a thermodynamic property and is denoted by the symbol S. For e.g. a gas is more random than liquid which in turn is more random than solid. Thus entropy for solids, liquid, and gases follows the order:
Gas>liquid>solid
1) When a liquid is crystallized into a solid then the molecules are orderly arranged and the randomness decreases, hence the entropy will also decrease.
2) When the temperature of crystalline solids is raised then molecules will gain some sort of kinetic energy and they will start to move faster, hence there will be an increase in randomness, hence entropy will increase.
