Gametogenesis refers to the formation of two types of gametes- male and female gamete from their respective gamete mother cells or germ cells. formed gametes are essentially haploid cells. The process of formation of male gamete-sperm in humans is called as spermatogenesis while the process of formation of female gamete ovum is called as Oogenesis.
