The male reproductive system consists of a scrotum, a pair of testes, vasa efferentia, a pair of the epididymis, a pair of deferentia, a pair of ejaculatory ducts, a urethra, a penis, and certain glands.
The penis is an external intromittent organ through which the urethra runs. It contains 3 columns of spongy tissues: 2 corpora cavernosa on the front side and 1 corpus spongiosum around the urethra.
The spongy tissue has abundant blood sinuses that are normally empty and collapsed, and help in erecting the penis. Near the tip of the penis, the corpus spongiosum is enlarged to form a soft and highly sensitive glans penis.
It is covered by a loose, retractable fold of skin, the prepuce, or foreskin. The urethra opens out at the tip of the penis.
